Think Thor is ONLY a versatile and amazing sounding synth? Think again because Thor is also one of the coolest audio processors you’ve got… you just didn’t know it.
The best part? James not only shows us how to process audio through Thor, but he’s created some Thor combinator patches to get you started!

As mentioned above, I am looking to buy a mixing console/soundboard. I need an idea of stores that would sell these. Also, I would like to hear some opinions on Audio Mixing Software (any that you have found/heard were good).
Note: This is for a band.
Many stores that sell music instruments have access to PA systems - but the quality and manufacturers can be all over the map. Guitar Center is a good place to start if there is one near you - since we don’t know where you are, we have no way to make a local recommendation to you.
Audio mixing software? To do what? How?
I like a good 16 or 24 channel Mackie board paired with a Digidesign ProTools console… (Audacity is pretty cool for open source).
How much power do you need? Separate amps - Crown or Hafler, among others… to power Community mains or JBLs…
Or powered speakers - Mackies…
Mics (Shure SM58), mic stands (straight and boom - and a floor for the kick drum), cases, XLR cables, maybe a 24 channel snake…
Step 1, Start with a budget - see what fits - $3,000 is a place to start…
I have MIDI sequences that I composed from Guitar Pro software. Guitar Pro has a "Realistic Sound Engine", but it doesn’t sound realistic and you can’t even export your music as an audio file with the "Realistic Sound".
I need a software that has the most realistic possible sounding instruments so I can import my MIDI sequences, and then export as an audio file.
Does anybody know the best one? I came across Pro Tools (with the A.I.R. Advanced Instrument Research) — is this good? I’m running Windows, just so you know.
Like the previoius guy said, Pro Tools is the only way to go.
You should also consider joining an audio forum like http://www.audioneeds.com - Forums are great because they’re free and there are tons of people there who love music the same way you do, and can help you with your questions and give you great advice.
I’m looking for a software to where I can like change the voice around and make it sound different, and all the good mixing stuff too. It need to be free, But like I want to be able to make the voice sound like robotic or echo n stuff like that…I need Help!
you can get a demo mixcraft and use the plugin "atares autotune" which if configured properly makes your voice sound like t-pain. search it on youtube.
i need free Music Creation Software that has alot of instruments and has a virtual piano that i caan use my usb piano with and allows me to sequence bits of instruments into a song
FL Studio might work for you, check the demo here: http://demo.flstudio.com
In case you end up getting FL Studio, you can get 10% discount on your first order from image-line with this promo link for new customers: https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offer=Default&promo=BACJBAA468
Just make sure you get the right version. The demo is basically the same as the Producer Edition, except for some of the generators like Sytrus and Directwave that are only available in the Signature Bundle. You can compare the editions here: http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/editions.html
Good luck!
I want to start with audio production, but I don’t know which program I should buy. I don’t want beginner software, but a complete program for professional audio production.
Apparently, the most prominent are:
- FL Studio
- Adobe Audition
- Steinberg Cubase
- Sony Sound Forge
Any advice?
P.S. price is unimportant.
Logic. user friendly and super intelligent, great quality of sound. it’s pro tools main competitor, and pro tools is industry standard. cubase and sound forge are a joke, don’t bother. i don’t know about the other two…
